Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 on the AWS Cloud: Quick Start Reference Deployment Now Available for APN Partners
We continue to add exclusive content on the APN Portal for APN Partners, and today we’re excited to announce the availability of the Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 on the AWS Cloud: Quick Start Reference Deployment for APN Partners.
What’s Covered in this Quick Start Reference Deployment
This Quick Start Reference Deployment includes architectural considerations and configurations used to build a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 environment on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. We discuss how to build and configure the necessary AWS Services, such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) to deploy a highly available Exchange Server architecture across separate AWS Availability Zones.
We also provide a sample nested AWS CloudFormation template to help you deploy a correctly configured infrastructure predictably and repeatedly. This automated template deploys a Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) and Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Server infrastructure in multiple Availability Zones in an Amazon VPC. If you’ve already deployed AD DS, you can use the Exchange 2013 AWS CloudFormation template we’ve provided to automate your deployment.
The automated templates build the minimal infrastructure required to run Exchange Server 2013 on AWS with high availability for a small deployment that supports 250 mailboxes. We also provide guidance for three additional deployment scenarios (for 250, 2,500, and 10,000 mailboxes) aligned with the Microsoft preferred architecture for Exchange Server. This architecture provides greater fault-tolerance and eliminates the need for traditional backups. You can use any of these scenarios as a starting point for your own requirements.
