Introducing AWS Direct Connect Inter-Region Connectivity

Posted on: Dec 19, 2013

We are excited to announce the launch of AWS Direct Connect Inter-Region Connectivity. Prior to the launch of this feature, you could only use your Direct Connect connections to access services in the AWS Region where you had established connectivity. Now, if you provision a single connection to any Direct Connect location in the US, you can use it to access AWS services in all US Regions and AWS GovCloud (US).

Using this new feature is straightforward. To get started, all you need to do is create a public virtual interface on your Direct Connect connection with the AWS Management Console or AWS Direct Connect API. Once this interface is created, traffic will use your AWS Direct Connect connection to access AWS services in any US Region, or AWS GovCloud (US), instead of the Internet.

We hope you find these new features useful. If you have any questions, we invite you to use any of our support resources to have them answered, and we welcome your feedback on the updated console.
