We are pleased to announce that ElastiCache for Redis now supports engine version 2.8.6. Customers can now launch new clusters with Redis 2.8.6, as well as upgrade existing ones to the new engine version. Among the improvements in Redis 2.8.6 are partial resynchronization that speeds master-slave sync, and improved consistency through the ability to suspend writes to master if the number of slaves is insufficient.

To learn more, we encourage you to read Jeff Barr’s blog. You can easily launch an ElastiCache for Redis cluster with engine version 2.8.6 via a few clicks on the AWS Management Console.
