Amazon CloudWatch API calls are now available in CloudTrail

Posted on: Apr 30, 2014

We are excited to announce that Amazon CloudWatch API calls are recorded and available in AWS CloudTrail. If you are an existing CloudTrail customer, you do not need to take any action. The following CloudWatch API calls are recorded and delivered to your S3 bucket.

  • PutMetricAlarm
  • DescribeAlarms
  • DescribeAlarmHistory
  • DescribeAlarmsForMetric
  • DisableAlarmActions
  • EnableAlarmActions
  • SetAlarmState
  • DeleteAlarms

Using the CloudTrail log files, you can answer questions such as when a CloudWatch alarm was created, modified or deleted or who created or deleted the CloudWatch alarm. To learn about information recorded by CloudTrail, go to the CloudTrail event reference and examples.

If you haven’t turned on CloudTrail for your account, you can turn on CloudTrail from the AWS Management Console in as few as two clicks.
