Cost Explorer Update: Additional Filtering and Grouping Dimensions

Posted on: Feb 18, 2015

Cost Explorer, a tool that lets you analyze your historical AWS spend data with a graphical interface, now includes additional dimensions on which to filter and group costs. These additional dimensions allow Cost Explorer users to visualize more detailed cost data and gain deeper insights into their AWS costs and cost drivers. Specifically, with this launch, Cost Explorer users can now group costs not only by Service and Linked Account, but also by Availability Zone, Purchase Option ("Reserved" or "Non-Reserved"), and API Operation. In addition, they can filter costs by all of those dimensions and multiple Tag Keys (in the past, they could only filter by one Tag Key at a time).

To start using Cost Explorer with these new filtering and grouping capabilities, navigate to the Cost Explorer tab in the billing section of the AWS Management Console (link: https://console.aws.amazon.com/billing/home). For more information about the reports, please see the Cost Explorer Documentation (link: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/awsaccountbilling/latest/aboutv2/costexplorer.html)."
