Amazon WorkSpaces has added three new features to improve cost, accessibility, and security of your data:
Bring Your Own Windows 7 Licenses: You can now bring your existing Windows 7 Desktop Licenses to Amazon WorkSpaces and run the Windows 7 Desktop OS on hardware that is physically dedicated to you. Eligible organizations will be entitled to a discount of $4 per WorkSpace per month, for a savings of up to 16%. To learn more about this new licensing option and eligibility requirements, please see the Amazon WorkSpaces FAQ.
Chromebooks Support: In addition to Windows and Mac computers, iPads, Kindle Fire tablets, and Android tablets, users can now access their WorkSpace from Google Chromebooks. These “thin-client” laptops are simple to manage and designed for Internet users, making them a great match for Amazon WorkSpaces.
Encryption: Amazon WorkSpaces now integrates with the AWS Key Management Service (KMS) to provide you the ability to encrypt the Amazon WorkSpaces storage volumes for protecting data both at-rest and in-flight. You simply enable encryption as part of the Amazon WorkSpaces configuration process in the AWS Management Console.
You can immediately get started with these new features. For more information, please read the AWS blog and visit the Amazon WorkSpaces documentation.
