You can now launch new Oracle 12c and 11g database versions "18.104.22.168v7", "22.214.171.124.v4" and "126.96.36.199.v3" that include the January 2016 Oracle Patch Set Updates (PSU). In new versions, we also increased the limit on number of custom Oracle directories to 10,000 and enabled re-granting of read privileges on Oracle dump directories.
To create a new Oracle "188.8.131.52v7", "184.108.40.206.v4" and "220.127.116.11.v3" DB instance with just a few clicks use the "Launch DB Instance Wizard" in the AWS Management Console and select the appropriate DB engine version. To upgrade an existing database instance, use the "Modify" option in the AWS Management Console and select the appropriate DB engine version. Before you upgrade a production database instance, we recommend that you test the upgrade process with a test DB instance to verify the duration of the upgrade process as well as test your application with the new DB engine version.
