AWS Free Tier usage alerts automatically notify you when you are forecasted to exceed your AWS service usage limits

Posted on: Dec 6, 2017

AWS Free Tier enables you to gain free, hands-on experience with the AWS platform, products, and services. AWS Budgets allows you to manage your AWS costs and usage by creating custom budgets that alert you if your user-defined thresholds are breached.

Starting today, AWS Budgets will automatically track AWS service usage that falls under the AWS Free Tier and send you email alerts if you are forecasted to breach one or more services’ AWS Free Tier usage limits. For example, AWS Budgets will automatically begin tracking your eligible service usage (e.g., Amazon EC2 t2.micro instance usage) on a monthly cadence, and will continuously forecast whether you are projected to exceed the monthly usage limit. If your service usage exceeds, or is forecasted to exceed, the AWS Free Tier usage limits, then AWS Budgets will automatically send you an email alert.

Please note that most customers are automatically opted in to receive AWS Free Tier usage alerts. You can adjust your alert settings from the Billing Preferences page.
