We are excited to introduce the Amazon WorkSpaces 3.0 client for Linux (Ubuntu Linux 18.04). This 3.0 client also contains some new enhancements including friendly naming for registration codes (directories) and a new UI.
Today, companies deploy Linux desktops for many different reasons: increased security, high stability, the wide range of hardware choices, or the simple fact that their users prefer it. However, running applications from other operating systems on Linux requires additional licensing and increases management complexity. Now customers can use Linux as their primary desktop and run applications from other operating systems by connecting to WorkSpaces whenever they need to; which saves them money when used with Amazon WorkSpaces Pay-As-You-Go pricing.
To get started, you can go to the WorkSpaces Client Download page, select Linux then download the package. You can also install it via command line by following the instructions in located in the Linux WorkSpaces Client Documentation.
