Application Auto Scaling now provides notifications via the AWS Health Service

Posted on: Dec 20, 2019

Application Auto Scaling now publishes notifications to the AWS Personal Health Dashboard and AWS Health API when a scale-out operation for one of your Amazon DynamoDB Tables or Global Secondary Indexes is prevented because a DynamoDB throughput service limit has been reached. This gives you actionable feedback to request a service-limit increase.

The AWS Personal Health Dashboard provides information about AWS Health events that can affect your account. The information is presented in two ways: a dashboard that shows recent and upcoming events organized by category, and a full event log that shows all events from the past 90 days. When a notification is created by Application Auto Scaling, you will receive alerts via emails, and find a notification inside the dashboard. The notification provides instructions on how to identify the affected resource(s) and guidance to quickly diagnose and resolve any issues. You can also use the AWS Health API to gain programmatic access to the information that is presented in the Personal Health Dashboard.
