You can now provide cron expressions as the scheduling input for your Data Lifecycle Manager (DLM) policies. Cron expressions provide you the flexibility to specify custom schedules in your policies.
Furthermore, with this launch we are also expanding the backup intervals on DLM to support weekly, monthly and annual schedules in addition to the already available hourly and daily schedules. Your backup interval can now be anywhere between 1 hour and 1 year.
We launched DLM in July 2018 to enable automation of creation and retention of EBS volume snapshots via policies. Since then, we have made DLM easier to use and supported Disaster Recovery use-cases with capabilities like more frequent backup support and cross region copy of snapshots. Today, we extend the DLM to support additional backup intervals and scheduling based on cron expressions to provide you with additional flexibility.
