Amazon Cognito now supports SMS Sandbox in Amazon SNS. Amazon Cognito makes it easy to add authentication, authorization, and user management to your web and mobile apps. Amazon Cognito scales to millions of users and supports sign-in with social identity providers, such as Apple, Facebook, Google, and Amazon, and enterprise identity providers via standards such as SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
To increase consumer trust in SMS, the application-to-person messaging (A2P) industry is adopting various best practices such as requiring registered phone numbers and message templates. Amazon SNS introduced the SMS sandbox to support these industry best practices. With support for the SMS sandbox from Amazon SNS, you can perform development and testing activities involving SMS text messages for your application. You can confirm if you need to take steps to comply with country-specific requirements, purchase required resources like sender ID or origination phone numbers, and set the SMS spend quota needed for your application, before your solution is deployed for general use.
For more information about Cognito’s SMS sandbox support, a detailed guide on setting up the SMS sandbox and to request origination or sender identities, visit the Text messaging settings page in the Cognito documentation. For more information on the SMS sandbox and to move to production from the sandbox, see SMS Sandbox in the Amazon SNS Developer Guide.
