AQUA (Advanced Query Accelerator) for Amazon Redshift is now generally available in three additional AWS regions: Europe (Stockholm), Asia Pacific (Seoul), and US West (N. California).
AQUA is a new distributed and hardware-accelerated cache that enables Amazon Redshift to run up to 10x faster than other enterprise cloud data warehouses by automatically boosting certain types of queries. AQUA uses AWS-designed processors with AWS Nitro chips adapted to speed up data encryption and compression, and custom analytics processors, implemented in FPGAs, to accelerate operations such as scans, filtering, and aggregation.
AQUA is available with the RA3.16xlarge, RA3.4xlarge, or RA3.xlplus nodes at no additional charge and with no code changes. You can enable AQUA for your existing Redshift RA3 clusters or launch a new AQUA enabled RA3 cluster via the AWS Management Console, API, or CLI. To learn more about AQUA, visit the documentation.
AQUA is now generally available in US East (Ohio), US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), US West (N. California), Europe (Ireland), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Stockholm), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Singapore), and Asia Pacific (Seoul) regions, and will expand to additional regions in the coming months.
