Amazon EFS Replication provides you with an easy way to keep an up-to-date copy of your file system in a second AWS Region or within the same Region. Amazon EFS Replication enables you to replicate file data in a few clicks and without requiring you to manually provision additional infrastructure or a custom process to monitor and synchronize data changes. Amazon EFS Replication is designed to meet a recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO) of minutes, enabling you to meet your business continuity and compliance requirements.

Amazon EFS provides a simple, serverless, set-and-forget, elastic file system for use with AWS services and on-premises resources. It offers you the choice of Standard storage classes, which are designed to store data within a minimum of three Availability Zones (AZs), each separated by miles within an AWS Region for higher availability and higher durability, and One Zone storage classes, which are designed to store data in a single AZ.

Amazon EFS is designed for 99.999999999% (11 9’s) of durability and high availability. However, organizations in regulated industries are often subject to compliance requirements that mandate storing secondary data copies several hundred miles away from the original. You can use Amazon EFS Replication to automatically maintain a copy of your Amazon EFS file system in a Region or AZ of your choice, using the Amazon EFS console, AWS CLI, and APIs to enable replication on an existing file system.

Amazon EFS Replication is available in AWS US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Osaka), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Europe (London), Europe (Paris), Europe (Stockholm), South America (São Paulo), and AWS GovCloud (US). To learn more, read the AWS News Blog, and the EFS documentation. To get started, configure replication for existing file systems in just a few clicks using the Amazon EFS Console.
