Amazon Textract is a machine learning service that automatically extracts text, handwriting, and data from any document or image. We continuously improve the underlying machine learning models based on customer feedback to provide even better accuracy. Today, we are pleased to announce a quality enhancement to our Forms extraction feature.

Amazon Textract now provides enhanced key-value pair extraction accuracy for standardized documents with consistent layouts like select CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid) healthcare, IRS tax and standard insurance forms. These documents have traditionally been challenging to extract information from due to their dense and complex layouts. Textract is now able to utilize its knowledge of these standardized forms to provide higher accuracies in key-value pair extraction. Customers across industries like insurance, healthcare and banking utilize these documents in their business processes and will automatically see the benefits of this update when they use Textract’s Forms extraction feature.

This update will be available in US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Europe (London), Europe (Paris), AWS GovCloud (US-East), and AWS GovCloud (US-West) starting June 21st.

To get started, log on to the Amazon Textract console to try out the Forms feature. To learn more about Textract capabilities, please visit the Amazon Textract website, developer guide, or resources page.
