AWS Compute Optimizer now supports external performance metrics from four observability partners: Datadog, Dynatrace, Instana, and New Relic. By using externally provided utilization metrics for Amazon EC2 memory, Compute Optimizer can now identify additional savings opportunity, and more performance-aware recommendations for customers that use these products.
With this launch, you can now configure AWS Compute Optimizer to ingest memory metrics for EC2 instances from any of the four partner platforms. After 30 hours, Compute Optimizer will begin to provide rightsizing recommendations that size memory capacity in addition to CPU, disk, network, IO and throughput, unlocking additional savings and performance awareness. Memory metrics from CloudWatch will continue to be supported when external metrics are not present, and for customers without memory utilization metrics enabled, Compute Optimizer will continue to give rightsizing recommendations that do not reduce memory capacity.
You can configure the external metrics across any account or organization in AWS Compute Optimizer in the following regions: US East (Ohio), US East (N. Virginia), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Europe (London), Europe (Paris), Europe (Stockholm), and South America (São Paulo).
