Amazon Personalize announces the ability to filter (include or exclude) recommendations for Related Items recipes based on the properties of the input or query item (e.g. the CurrentItem). Prior to this launch, Personalize customers could filter items based on dataset properties such as category or price range. Customers could also filter recommendations based on properties of the user getting recommendations (e.g. the CurrentUser), such as age or whether or not the user had taken a specific action.

Now, customers can also filter based on properties of the input or query item. For example, a media customer may want to only recommend content that has the same maturity rating as the show that a user has selected. Similarly, a retail customer may want to only recommend items that are in the same category as the product that a user has selected. This new filter enables customers to accomplish these goals by including or excluding recommendations based on properties of the input item.

This feature has launched in all 12 regions where Personalize is available. Customers can create this filter in the console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDK, and then apply filters to real-time or batch recommendations.

Amazon Personalize enables customers to personalize your website, app, ads, emails, and more, using the same machine learning technology used by Amazon, without requiring any prior machine learning experience. To get started with Amazon Personalize, visit our documentation.
