Amazon CodeCatalyst users can now securely access their Dev Environments using SSH over AWS Systems Manager Session Manager. This feature allows users to perform actions on Dev Environments such as port forwarding, and uploading and downloading files that were not possible while using AWS Cloud9. CodeCatalyst is a unified software development service that makes it faster to build and deliver software on AWS. Dev Environments, a feature of CodeCatalyst, are preconfigured, scalable cloud development environments accessible from popular IDEs.
SSH support for Dev Environments enhances the functionality provided by the supported IDEs on CodeCatalyst. While the integrated IDEs provide smooth onboarding and user experience, SSH access unlocks additional capabilities for advanced users. This enables use cases not previously possible like port forwarding, transferring files in and out of the Dev Environment without needing to upload and download using S3 buckets while using AWS Cloud9 IDE. With SSH support users can also choose to use their preferred IDEs not supported by CodeCatalyst Dev Environments for code authoring.
SSH support is available in all supported AWS Regions for CodeCatalyst.
