Starting today Amazon RDS for Db2 supports Cross-Region Automated Backups. With this launch, customers can now choose to automatically replicate the backups created by RDS for their Db2 databases to a secondary AWS Region.

Customers can use Amazon RDS cross-region automated backups for disaster recovery. In case the RDS for Db2 database becomes unavailable in the primary region, customers can restore the database to a specific point in time within their backup retention period and resume operations in the secondary AWS Region.

Customers pay for storage and data transfer of the backups. Data transfer between the primary AWS Region to a secondary AWS Region is billed based on the data transfer rates of the applicable AWS Regions. See Amazon RDS for Db2 Pricing for up-to-date pricing of instances, storage, data transfer and regional availability.

Amazon RDS makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale a relational database on AWS. To learn more about Amazon RDS Cross-region Automated Backups, please visit the Amazon RDS for Db2 documentation page.
