We are excited to announce that Amazon SageMaker now provides capability to enable existing Studio Classic domains to opt-in to the new SageMaker Studio experience via SageMaker Console.
The new and improved SageMaker Studio offers a suite of IDEs, including Code Editor based on Code-OSS Visual Studio Code Open Source, improved and faster JupyterLab, and RStudio. SageMaker Studio also comes with an improved JumpStart experience. For additional information on new SageMaker Studio capabilities, please refer to our previous announcement.
This new feature on SageMaker Console provides customers an easy way of migrating their existing domains to new SageMaker Studio. Customers can also do this themselves today using CLI. SageMaker users can go to the domains that were created with only SageMaker Studio Classic enabled and should see an option to enable the new SageMaker Studio on the domain details page. The enablement process includes specifying and configuring roles, attaching S3 CORS policies to S3 buckets and manually migrating data from EFS to EBS.
There is no additional cost to using this new functionality and this feature is available in all Amazon Web Services regions where Amazon SageMaker is currently available, except China and the Amazon Web Services GovCloud (US) regions.
