We are excited to announce that AWS Mainframe Modernization service is now available with greater control of managed runtime environments that run modernized mainframe applications.

For applications modernized using AWS Mainframe Modernization Automated Refactor with AWS Blu Age, a new Elastic File System (EFS) access point configuration capability allows customers to configure segregated storage per modernized application with secure identity and fine-grained access controls. This application-specific access can help enhance security of the modernized applications across multiple use cases.

For applications modernized using AWS Mainframe Modernization Replatform with Micro Focus, customers can now restart batch jobs with a configurable option to restart either from the beginning or from a specific execution step. Application administrators have new batch-related capabilities to configure Job Entry Subsystem (JES) program paths, system procedure library locations, as well as batch aliases. Configurable JES paths and system procedure library locations enable the flexibility to put program source code binaries and procedures, respectively, in different desired locations. Batch aliases facilitate flexible naming and exposing of utilities so that the utilities can be changed without changing the Job Control Language (JCL). The applications can now be customized with environment variables for charset selection, dataset location, etc., to configure advanced use cases. These capabilities enable greater control over and flexibility of managed runtime and also are useful for deploying new utilities.

The new capabilities are available in any AWS Region where AWS Mainframe Modernization managed runtime is already deployed. To learn more, please visit AWS Mainframe Modernization product and documentation pages.
