With AWS Resource Explorer, you can search for resources across AWS Regions with a single search. To do so, you must search a view that was configured in the Region that is your aggregator index. Read more about aggregator indexes.
Search across AWS accounts
With AWS Resource Explorer, you can create multi-account views and search across all accounts in your AWS Organization with a single search. To do so you must configure Resource Explorer in every account in your organization using AWS CloudFormation or AWS Systems Manager Quick Setup.
Search from anywhere in the console
In addition to searching from the AWS Resource Explorer console, you can search for your resources from any page in the AWS Management Console by using unified search. Learn how to enable resource discovery in unified search.
Navigate directly to your resources
In the AWS Resource Explorer console, from the search results displayed in the unified search bar, you can quickly navigate to your resource’s details page in the respective service console and Region.
Control who can search for resources
To control who can search for resources, you can grant access to your AWS Resource Explorer views with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and IAM users. Learn more about granting access to resources with IAM.
If you choose Quick setup, AWS Resource Explorer creates a local index in every supported AWS Region. The service promotes the Region that you specify to be the aggregator index to receive data from the local indexes in all other Regions. It also creates a default view in the aggregator index Region. Learn more about aggregator indexes and cross-Region replication.
With Advanced setup, you can choose the AWS Regions in which to turn on AWS Resource Explorer. You can also configure the following options
(Optional) Region with an aggregator index
Default views
To set up Resource Explorer in multiple accounts at once, you should use AWS Systems Manager to set up a Resource Explorer configuration across your AWS Organization. You can find more information on AWS Systems Manager Quick Setup in our Getting Started guide.
