Gaggle

 USA

 Champion since 2024

Gaggle is on a mission to ensure all schools are safe and all students get the mental and emotional help they need by leveraging both people and technology. Their innovative solutions stand at the forefront of student safety and well-being initiatives, offering comprehensive support services that empower schools to protect and nurture their students effectively. Their flagship program, Gaggle Safety Management, employs advanced analytics to detect and flag troubling content in students' school accounts and school-issued devices. This proactive approach enables K-12 school districts to intervene early, protecting students from potential harm.

Recognizing the need for holistic and just-in-time support beyond crisis identification, Gaggle introduced ReachOut. Developed on AWS, ReachOut serves as a hotline connecting K-12 students with trained Gaggle support counselors around the clock. Accessible via phone, SMS, or web chat, ReachOut provides immediate assistance to students facing mental health challenges such as conflicts, depression, or loneliness. By engaging students early, ReachOut aims to de-escalate crises, keep students from becoming at-risk, ease the burden on school counseling services, and foster a supportive environment conducive to student success.

Partnering directly with school districts, Gaggle ensures widespread student adoption of ReachOut through communication channels like emails, posters, stickers, student portals, and learning management systems. This initiative has been widely lauded for its transformative impact on crisis support within educational settings, particularly during times of heightened demand.

Gaggle remains committed to bridging critical gaps in youth mental health support within schools, leveraging digital tools to provide timely interventions. Their collaboration with AWS has further enhanced ReachOut's capabilities, including real-time translation in 75 languages to cater to diverse student populations. Notably, schools like Geneva City Schools in New York have embraced ReachOut as an essential resource outside regular school hours, underscoring its role in ensuring immediate crisis assistance and proactive student safety measures.

What is the AWS Champions Program?

The AWS Champions program recognizes, celebrates, and supports organizations and individuals driving digital transformation with cloud computing. AWS recognizes AWS Education Champions, AWS State and Local Government Champions, AWS EdTech Champions, and AWS GovTech Champions.

The purpose of the program is to acknowledge customers that have used AWS products and services in innovative ways to improve the service to their communities, constituents, customers, stakeholders, staff, students, faculty or researchers. Champions’ experiences and success stories serve as inspiration for other education, state and local government, EdTech and GovTech customers to reference as they think about their own digital transformation journey.
