San Antonio Independent School District

Founded in 1899, the San Antonio Independent School District is as diverse and historically rich as the city whose name it shares. Today, SAISD serves about 47,000 students across more than 90 schools in a culturally proud, urban community of more than 300,000 residents. SAISD is driven to improve lives by delivering a quality education and the determination to have all students graduate and be prepared for success beyond graduation. 

In the past decade SAISD has transformed and modernized the student experience through financial strategies that allowed the district to maximize funding through bonds, eRate, and grants.  This allowed the district to implement new technology in more than 3,000 classrooms, upgrade network infrastructure and make a device available for every student. During the first year of the pandemic their financial savvy and partnerships with organizations across Bexar County and the City of San Antonoi, allowed SAISD to build an LTE network, provide technical support for students and their families, and issue 10,000 hotspots.   

As their investments in technology grew, SAISD leadership developed policies and strategies to protect that investment and ensure business continuity for the district and learning continuity for its students.  SAISD developed a new district cybersecurity policy, secured a standalone cybersecurity insurance policy, and oversaw the implementation of a Security Operations Center (SOC) to better protect the district from cyber threats.
