You can now use Amazon Route 53 alias records to map custom domain names (e.g. www.helloworld.net) to AWS Elastic Beanstalk environments (e.g. helloworld.elasticbeanstalk.com) without incurring additional Route 53 query charges.
As part of this release, all newly created Elastic Beanstalk environments will now include a region prefix to the domain names. For example, if you create a new Elastic Beanstalk environment in the US West (Oregon) region and provide a domain prefix, “helloworld”, then the environment’s domain name will be “helloworld.us-west-2.elasticbeanstalk.com”. Domain names for existing Elastic Beanstalk environments will not change.
Support for alias records is now available in the US West (Oregon) and will soon be available in the US East (Northern Virginia), US West (Northern California), EU (Ireland), EU (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), and South America (São Paulo) regions.
