Amazon Web Services

In today’s digital economy, where speed and accuracy define market leadership, Bolsa de Productos de Chile (Bolsa de Productos) is using generative AI to transform how it operates. By building a scalable, automated solution with AWS Partner Morris & Opazo and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Bolsa de Productos can validate thousands of invoices daily, drastically reducing operational risk and enhancing transparency in the marketplace.

Opportunity | Scaling Securely with Increased Invoice Volume

Bolsa de Productos, a commodities exchange in Chile, was created in 2005 to provide alternative funding sources for small- and medium-sized businesses. As the volume of electronic invoices entering Bolsa de Productos’s system grew, so did the need for faster, more reliable invoice validation. Manual checks by experts across various industries were time-consuming, error prone, and unsustainable at scale. “Bolsa de Productos, in its role as invoice custodian, is constantly trying to improve the reviews that we do on the invoices,” says Marcelo Gutiérrez, chief technology officer at Bolsa de Productos.

Before automation, the invoice review process would have required hundreds of experts to manually validate each document—a process that could not keep pace with market demand. “We needed many experts in each sector to validate whether the document was correctly issued, or whether the invoice contained accurate information,” says Gutiérrez.

Solution | Automating Validation for Over 2,000 Invoices with Puerto X Monitor

To address this challenge, Bolsa de Productos, working with Morris & Opazo, built Puerto X Monitor, an AI-powered platform for invoice validation. The solution used serverless infrastructure while running on Amazon Bedrock—the easiest way to build and scale generative AI applications with foundation models—and uses Amazon Redshift to power data-driven decisions.

The result: Over 2,000 invoices can be continuously reviewed in near real time, every day, without human intervention. This system reduces the exchange’s manual workload, lowers operational risk, improves market efficiency, and enhances operational accuracy while offering scalability for future growth.

Outcome | Improving Security and Reducing Risk at Scale

Since its implementation, Puerto X Monitor has significantly transformed how Bolsa de Productos safeguards its operations. “What motivates me most about using generative AI is that today, it lets us automate tasks that were previously impossible to do with human beings,” says Gutiérrez. “This clearly gives us an important technological advantage and aligns with the mission of Bolsa de Productos.”

The exchange has already validated over 1 million invoices. “Implementing Puerto X Monitor clearly gave us greater security in the instruments held in custody at Bolsa de Productos. And at the same time, it lowered the risk to the market,” says Gutiérrez. This includes transactions between factoring companies, investment funds, and other financial stakeholders who rely on the platform for accurate and timely validation.
