AWS ParallelCluster 2.6.0 with CloudWatch Logs integration and More
AWS ParallelCluster is a fully supported and maintained open source cluster management tool that makes it easy for scientists, researchers, and IT administrators to deploy and manage High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters in the AWS cloud. HPC clusters are collections of tightly coupled compute, storage, and networking resources that enable customers to run large scale scientific and engineering workloads.
Significant feature enhancements to this latest release of ParallelCluster include:
• CloudWatch Logs: AWS ParallelCluster now integrates natively with CloudWatch to send HPC cluster and job scheduler logs to CloudWatch. Within CloudWatch, users can easily search and inspect all of their logs in a single place, making cluster monitoring and observability easier than ever before.
• DCV on Ubuntu 18: Since version 2.5.0, AWS ParallelCluster has supported NICE DCV for remote desktop visualization. In this release, support for NICE DCV has been extended to Ubuntu 18 and Amazon Linux 2, allowing users greater flexibility in how they choose to perform remote visualization for use cases such as post-processing.
• FSx for Lustre Enhancements: With the latest version of ParallelCluster you can optionally choose to create a persistent FSx for Lustre file system, higher burst speeds, and smaller increment granularity for file system sizes. FSx for Lustre functionality along with these additional enhancements is now also available on the Ubuntu 16, Ubuntu 18, and Amazon Linux 2 operating systems.
• Amazon Linux 2: Customers can now choose Amazon Linux 2 as their base operating system of choice to run their clusters. As with other operating systems supported by ParallelCluster, you can choose your operating system using the base_os configuration option and can choose to create and use your own custom AMI built on top of Amazon Linux 2. Amazon Linux 2 support also includes compatibility with all of ParallelCluster’s supported schedulers, NICE DCV, and FSx for Lustre (including the latest FSx enhancements mentioned above).
