The Department of Technology Services (DTS) is a vital component to all 21 departments and numerous agencies throughout the City of Chattanooga by providing strategy and operations for network, systems, infrastructure, service desk, cybersecurity, custom development, digital experiences, enterprise platforms, project management, smart city technologies, and IT related financial management across the city.
Chattanooga is at the beginning of its digital transformation with a hyperfocus on utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS) as their catalyst. From building a more robust disaster recovery strategy, offloading historical workloads with serverless tools, instituting a automated data retention workflows, converting 100s of virtual machines, to modernizing its Geographical Information Systems (GIS) enterprise platform; Chattanooga is executing a calculated migration plan with the guiding principles of achieving operational efficiency, removing costly overhead, and leveraging AWS’s thought leadership to intelligently secure, modernize, and scale city operations.

The AWS State and Local Government Champions program recognizes, celebrates, and supports organizations driving digital transformation with cloud computing. The purpose of the program is to acknowledge customers that have used AWS products and services in innovative ways to improve the service to their communities. The organizations selected to receive this award share the mission to transform and advance state and local government to better serve their constituents. This community will provide relatable stories for other state and local government customers to reference as they think about their own digital transformation journey.
