Amazon Redshift and Amazon EC2 High Storage Instances now in APAC

Posted on: Oct 8, 2013

We are delighted to announce that Amazon Redshift and Amazon EC2 High Storage (HS1) instances are now available in Asia Pacific (Singapore) and Asia Pacific (Sydney).

Amazon Redshift is a fully managed, petabyte-scale data warehouse service that makes it simple and cost-effective to efficiently analyze all your data using your existing business intelligence tools. The service is optimized for analyzing data sets of several hundred gigabytes to a petabyte or more and delivers fast query and I/O performance by using columnar storage technology and parallelizing and distributing queries across multiple nodes. Amazon Redshift also frees you from the muck associated with provisioning, monitoring, backing up, patching, securing, and scaling your data warehouse.

Amazon EC2 HS1 instances are optimized for customers whose applications require high sequential read and write performance over very large data sets. HS1 instances provide customers with 16 virtual CPUs (vCPUs), 117 GiB of RAM, and 48 Terabytes of storage across 24 hard disk drives, delivering over 2.4 Gigabytes per second of sequential I/O performance. HS1 instances can be launched into cluster placement groups, enabling low latency, 10 gigabits per second, inter-node network performance.
