Posted on: Nov 12, 2013

We are delighted to announce that access to Amazon Elastic MapReduce is now available in the AWS GovCloud (US) Management Console.

Amazon Elastic MapReduce (Amazon EMR) is a web service that makes it easy to quickly and cost-effectively process vast amounts of data. Amazon EMR uses Hadoop, an open source framework, to distribute and process your data across a resizable cluster of Amazon EC2 instances. Amazon EMR is used in a variety of applications, including log analysis, web indexing, data warehousing, machine learning, financial analysis, scientific simulation, and bioinformatics. AWS customers launch millions of Amazon EMR clusters every year.

The AWS Management Console for the AWS GovCloud (US) Region provides an easy-to-use graphical interface for AWS services and now is available for Amazon EMR.

AWS GovCloud (US) is an isolated AWS region designed to allow U.S. government agencies and customers with regulatory needs to move more sensitive workloads into the cloud.
