AWS CloudFormation Updated Support for AWS KMS, Amazon EC2 Spot Instances, Amazon ECS, and Amazon Elasticsearch Service

You can now provision aliases in AWS Key Management Service (KMS). An alias creates a display name for a customer master key. Visit here to learn more.

CloudFormation has also updated support for several existing resources:

  • Amazon EC2 spot instances: Specify a bid price for a specific instance type that you want to provision using the SpotPrice property
  • Amazon EC2 Container Service (ECS)
    • Create a name for an ECS service cluster
    • Specify the IAM role that ECS should use to call AWS APIs on your behalf
    • Register a task definition to a specific family
  • Amazon Elasticsearch Service (Amazon ES): Specify which version of Elasticsearch to use
