Amazon Inspector is pleased to announce support for security assessments on Ubuntu 16.04 within Amazon EC2. You can now run assessments for Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures (CVE), Amazon Security Best Practices, and Runtime Behavior Analysis. To run vulnerability assessments for Ubuntu 16.04, simply install the Amazon Inspector AWS Agent on the desired EC2 instance, configure your assessment in the Amazon Inspector console, and run your assessment.
Amazon Inspector has also launched a Lambda blueprint to automatically run vulnerability assessments on your schedule. You can setup your schedule by configuring the standard AWS Lambda blueprint (inspector-scheduled-run) available in the “Create a Lambda function” section. You select your schedule frequency via a fixed rate or create your own CRON expression, provide the Assessment Template ARN (assessmentTemplateArn), and AWS Lambda will write the event to run your vulnerability assessment on a regular basis.
For more information and details on pricing, visit the Amazon Inspector site. To get started, simply login to the Amazon Inspector Console and configure an assessment. Need more information? Check out our Quick Start guide and the Getting Started with Amazon Inspector webinar.
