AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) has added Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) as a migration target. Amazon S3 is object storage with a simple web interface to store and retrieve any amount of data. Together, the two products give you the ability to extract information from any database supported by DMS and write it to Amazon S3 in a format that can be used by almost any application.
Database extracts work for both complete database tables and for changes that have occurred since a given point in time, leveraging DMS Change Data Capture technology. Filters and table selection rules are easily configurable, allowing you to extract as much or as little data as required. This enables a new level of database freedom for your relational databases, letting you feed data warehouses, data lakes and generic applications as either complete migrations or continuous replications into the cloud.
