Introducing Notifications for New Amazon ECS-Optimized AMI Releases
You can now get an Amazon SNS notification when new Amazon ECS-optimized AMI releases are available.
Previously, you needed to manually check if ECS released a new version of the container agent by looking at the documentation or on the console’s container instances page. Now, you can subscribe to an SNS topic and be notified automatically when a new ECS-Optimized AMI release is available. The SNS subscription can be configured to deliver update information via an email, SMS message, or trigger an automated process with AWS Lambda.
Keeping your ECS container agent up to date with the latest ECS-Optimized AMI is important because new releases may include bug fixes and feature updates. Learn more about updating the ECS Container Agent here.
