This Quick Start automatically deploys a modern enterprise data warehouse (EDW) environment based on Amazon Redshift, with the analytics and data visualization capabilities of Tableau Server, on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud.
The Quick Start builds an AWS-validated architecture that includes:
• An Amazon Redshift data warehouse, which is an enterprise-class relational database query and management system.
• Tableau Server for business intelligence (BI) and data visualization capabilities, and a sample Tableau Server dashboard that demonstrates how to connect to multiple data sources in AWS.
• A sample dataset that's loaded to an Amazon Redshift cluster to support efficient creation of aggregates at large data scale, and an associated SQL worker instance. You can also choose to load your own dataset.
• Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) with PostgreSQL, to provide high-query-volume aggregate tables that feed scale-out dashboards.
You can choose to build a new VPC infrastructure that’s configured for security, scalability, and high availability, or use your existing VPC infrastructure for the data warehouse deployment. AWS CloudFormation templates automate the deployment and provide customization options for network resources, instance types, and configuration for Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL, and Tableau Server. The Quick Start also includes a guide with detailed information and step-by-step instructions.

About Quick Starts
Quick Starts are automated reference deployments for key workloads on the AWS Cloud. Each Quick Start launches, configures, and runs the AWS compute, network, storage, and other services required to deploy a specific workload on AWS, using AWS best practices for security and availability. This is the latest in a series of Quick Starts built by AWS in collaboration with AWS partners to automate the deployment of popular products and technologies on AWS. It is also the first in a set of AWS customer-ready solutions, which are ready-to-deploy reference architectures and best practices that address specific use cases or business processes.
