Amazon RDS for SQL Server Supports New Minor Versions
New minor versions of Microsoft SQL Server are available, offering performance and security fixes. Amazon RDS for SQL Server supports them for Microsoft SQL Server 2017, 2016, 2014 2012, and 2008 R2 for Express, Web, Standard and Enterprise Editions on Windows operating systems.
We encourage you to upgrade your RDS for SQL Server database instances at your convenience. You can upgrade with just a few clicks in the RDS Management Console. We have enabled the upgrade paths from SQL Server 2012, 2014, and 2016 to SQL Server 2017; if you’re on SQL Server 2008, please upgrade to any of the other major versions before upgrading to SQL Server 2017.
