AWS Server Migration Service now supports migrating on-premises virtual machines with data volumes of up to 16 TB. This enables customers to migrate their large databases and content management servers to AWS using the simplicity and ease of use that Server Migration Service provides.
AWS Server Migration Service is an agentless service which makes it easier and faster for customers to migrate on-premises workloads to AWS from VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V environments. It allows customers to automate, schedule, and track incremental replications of live server volumes, making it easier to coordinate large-scale server migrations. Previously, the size of the individual data volume that could be migrated using Server Migration Service was capped at 4 TB. With this announcement, customers are able to surpass this limit and migrate larger volumes up to 16 TB.
This capability exists in all AWS Regions where AWS Server Migration Service is currently available. To learn more, visit AWS Server Migration Service (SMS).
