Customers in the Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) region can now use AWS Snowball Edge to migrate up to petabytes of data into and out of Amazon S3, or to perform edge computing in disconnected, harsh and mobile environments, such as mines, factories or ships. Snowball Edge is a data transfer and edge computing service that uses secure, ruggedized devices.
Snowball Edge helps overcome the challenges of moving large data sets to the cloud when you do not have adequate network bandwidth for transfers. For edge computing use cases, Snowball Edge enables you to run Amazon EC2 instances and AWS Lambda functions on AWS IOT Greengrass. You can develop and test machine learning, image and video analysis, and other applications in AWS, and then deploy them on Snowball Edge devices, to collect and process data. You can then ship the data back to AWS for storage and further processing.
Snowball Edge is available in AWS Regions worldwide. For a complete list, see the AWS Region table. To learn more, visit the Snowball Edge web page, documentation, or the AWS Console.
