Amazon EMR is now available in your data center with AWS Outposts

Amazon EMR is now available on AWS Outposts, allowing you to deploy open-source tools like Apache Spark and Apache Hive in your data center. Using Amazon EMR on AWS Outposts, you can set up, deploy, manage, and scale Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, Apache Spark, and Presto clusters in your on-premises environments, just as you would in the cloud. Amazon EMR on AWS Outposts provides cost-efficient capacity while automating time-consuming administration tasks like infrastructure provisioning, cluster setup, configuration, or tuning, freeing you to focus on your applications.

AWS Outposts is a fully managed service that extends AWS infrastructure, AWS services, APIs, and tools to virtually any data center, co-location space, or on-premises facility for a consistent hybrid experience. You can use EMR on Outposts to augment on-premises processing capacity during periods of high utilization, and to process data that needs to remain on-premises for governance, compliance, or other reasons.

Using AWS Outposts, you can launch EMR clusters in your data center using the same AWS Management Console, Software Development Kit (SDK), and Command Line Interface (CLI) used to launch EMR clusters in the cloud. When launching a cluster, you simply specify the subnet associated with your Outpost. EMR clusters running on an Outpost will appear in the EMR console just like clusters running in the cloud.
