AWS AppConfig announces integration with Amazon S3

Posted on: Mar 13, 2020

AWS AppConfig now supports Amazon S3 as a source to store and retrieve application configurations. This option enables AWS customers who use S3 to store application configurations to on-board seamlessly with AWS AppConfig by specifying the URI of the configuration stored in their S3 bucket.

Prior to this launch, AWS customers could only store their application configurations either as AWS Systems Manager parameters or Systems Manager documents. With this launch, storing configuration data as S3 objects enables customers to store larger sized configurations in any format. Customers are also not required to create a schema prior to creating an application configuration, saving them time in deploying configuration to their applications. Storing application configurations as S3 objects also provides AWS customers more flexibility in managing their configurations by enabling them to use AppConfig with more applications.

AWS AppConfig makes it easy for AWS customers to quickly roll out application configurations across applications hosted on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, containers, AWS Lambda, mobile apps, IoT devices, and on-premises servers in a validated, controlled and monitored way.

This feature is available at no extra charge. Customers only pay for the resources they use.

This feature is available in US East (Ohio), US East (N. Virginia), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Canada (Central), EU (Frankfurt), EU (Ireland), EU (London), EU (Paris), EU (Stockholm) and South America (São Paulo).
