AWS DeepRacer allows you to get hands-on with machine learning (ML) through a fully autonomous 1/18th scale race car driven by reinforcement learning, a 3D racing simulator on the AWS DeepRacer console, a global racing league, and hundreds of customer-initiated community races.
With AWS DeepRacer community races, you can create your own race and invite your friends and colleagues to compete. The AWS DeepRacer console now supports object avoidance and head-to-bot races in addition to time trial racing formats, enabling racers at all skill levels to engage and learn about ML and challenge their friends. There’s never been a better time to get rolling with AWS DeepRacer!
Whether or not you have competed in races before, hosting a community race may be what you’re looking for to get started with AWS DeepRacer and learning ML. Community races are an exciting way for you to meet fellow ML enthusiasts by creating your own private virtual race through the AWS DeepRacer console. You can be an individual racer that just wants to compete with your friends or a business leader looking for new team building activities for your colleagues. It’s a lot of fun and great for improving your ML skills.
In object avoidance races, developers train the model to detect and avoid obstacles placed on the track. In head-to-bot, developers race against another DeepRacer bot on the same track and try to avoid it while still turning in the best lap time. This new addition takes community races to a whole new competitive level. You can also train up for object avoidance and head-to-head formats for in person racing with the new AWS DeepRacer Evo, which utilizes both LiDAR and stereo camera sensors.
Setting up your own community race can be completed in 3 easy steps. First, create a race by selecting a name for your event, description, race dates, lap requirements, number of trials for race evaluation and a track. Second, review the race details you’ve selected and make your final submission. Third and last, invite all the racers you want to compete in your event through your automatically generated race page and invitation link. Now you’re done and you’re ready to host your own race!
