AWS Ground Station launches new antenna location in Hawaii, USA
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Ground Station announces a new antenna location in Hawaii, USA. This is now the eighth Ground Station location connected to the AWS Global Network.
AWS Ground Station is a fully managed service that lets you control satellite communications, process satellite data, and scale your satellite operations. A mid-latitude AWS Ground Station located in the middle of the Pacific reduces the time between contacts for Low-Earth Orbit satellites and is useful for customers whose operations require downlink in this area of the world. Global expansion to Hawaii now enables satellite owners and operators to connect with their satellites and process their space workloads more frequently. Governments, businesses, and universities can benefit from more timely satellite data to make precise, data driven decisions.
Customers can easily integrate their space workloads with other AWS services in real-time using Amazon’s low-latency, high-bandwidth global network. Customers can stream their satellite data to Amazon EC2 for real-time processing, store data in Amazon S3 for low cost archiving, or apply AI/ML algorithms to satellite images with Amazon SageMaker. With AWS Ground Station, you pay only for the actual antenna time that you use.
Each Ground Station antenna location consists of multiple antennas. AWS Ground Station is now available in the US West (Oregon), US East (Ohio), Middle East (Bahrain), EU (Stockholm), Asia Pacific (Sydney), EU (Ireland), and Africa (Cape Town) regions and the new antenna location in Hawaii, US.
