Effective Jan 1st, 2021, Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS) provides tiered pricing for monthly API requests. Tiered pricing will provide discounts based on your monthly usage of Amazon SQS. Amazon SQS is a fully managed message queuing service that enables you to decouple and scale microservices, distributed systems, and serverless applications. Using Amazon SQS, you can send, store, and receive messages between software components at any volume, without losing messages or requiring other services to be available.
With the new tiered pricing for Amazon SQS, you will be charged a tiered price on the number of monthly requests you make to Amazon SQS. The tiered pricing will allow you to use Amazon SQS at scale with an API request price as low as $0.24 per million requests for standard queues and $0.35 per million requests for FIFO queues. This offers you the ability to save as your usage scales in contrast to the previous pricing model, which charged a flat price for API requests. For example, now customers using more than 500 billion requests a month could save 29% on their monthly Amazon SQS bill compared to the previous flat pricing.
Tiered pricing is available in all commercial and GovCloud regions where Amazon SQS is available except China regions. To get more details on tiered pricing per region, check out our Amazon SQS pricing page and Amazon SQS pricing calculator.
