AWS Direct Connect is now live at Equinix ML2, Milano, Italy. This is the second Direct Connect location in Italy. Equinix ML2 compliments the existing CDLAN Srl in Via Caldera 21, Milano, Italy Direct Connect location. Customers in Italy can use both Milan locations to deploy location-redundant connectivity.

Using Direct Connect, you can establish private connectivity between AWS and your data center, office, or colocation facility. In many cases, using Direct Connect can help to reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections. You can use Direct Connect Gateway to access AWS resources in any AWS Region (except China) from any AWS Direct Connect location.

As with all AWS Direct Connect locations, the Equinix ML2 location includes two customer-facing routes so that customers can establish locally resilient and redundant physical connectivity to the Amazon backbone network. Be sure to review our resiliency recommendations when planning your connectivity.

See the AWS Direct Connect website for information about Direct Connect locations, their associated AWS regions, and pricing. Customers can get dedicated 1Gbps or 10Gbps connections or work with a partner for hosted connections with speeds less than 1Gbps.
