New minor versions of Microsoft SQL Server are now available on Amazon RDS for SQL Server, offering performance and security fixes. Amazon RDS for SQL Server supports the new minor versions for Microsoft SQL Server 2017 and 2016 on the Express, Web, Standard, and Enterprise Editions.
We encourage you to upgrade your RDS for SQL Server database instances at your convenience. You can upgrade with just a few clicks in the RDS Management Console or using the AWS CLI.
