AWS IoT SiteWise has now launched AWS PrivateLink support for control plane APIs to manage AWS IoT SiteWise resources such as gateways, asset models, and assets. You can now securely create, update or delete your AWS IoT SiteWise resources without crossing the public Internet and without using public IP addresses. For more information, please visit the updated AWS IoT SiteWise and interface VPC endpoints page in our developer guide.

As part of this release, we are consolidating three endpoints to simplify the experience for AWS IoT SiteWise customers. For example, US East (N. Virginia) customers can use “api.iotsitewise.us-east-1.amazonaws.com” as the consolidated endpoint for “model.iotsitewise.us-east-1.amazonaws.com”, “edge.iotsitewise.us-east-1.amazonaws.com” and “iotsitewise.us-east-1.amazonaws.com”. Customers in all remaining AWS IoT SiteWise regions can use similar regional consolidated endpoints, formatted as “api.iotsitewise.<region>.amazonaws.com”. All existing endpoints will continue to work, and the newly released SDK will default to the consolidated endpoint. You can create a VPC endpoint for this new consolidated endpoint to establish a private connection between your VPC and AWS IoT SiteWise to manage your AWS IoT SiteWise resources. To learn more, please refer to this section in our developer guide.

To access all control plane VPC endpoints, you will have to update to the latest version of the AWS SDK that will automatically route control plane APIs to the new consolidated endpoints. As the new SDK will default to the consolidated endpoint, you may need to update your firewall rules if you have configured them to allow access to specific endpoints. To learn more about accessing AWS IoT SiteWise through an interface VPC endpoint, please refer to this section in our developer guide.

AWS IoT SiteWise is a managed service that makes it easy to collect, store, organize and monitor data from industrial equipment at scale to help you make better, data-driven decisions. To get started, log into the AWS Management Console and navigate to AWS IoT SiteWise console and check out a demo to see what you can achieve with AWS IoT SiteWise.
