AWS Application Migration Service (AWS MGN) has added support for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows Server 2008 (32-bit and 64-bit). You can now use Application Migration Service to rehost applications running on these legacy operating systems. Application Migration Service has also added support for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2022. View a complete list of the service’s supported operating systems.
In addition, Application Migration Service now supports Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) io2 and gp3 volumes for replication servers in the Application Migration Service staging area. This gives you more options when optimizing your migration for replication speed and cost. Application Migration Service continues to support Amazon EBS io2 and gp3 volumes for launched instances on AWS.
When launching Windows instances with Application Migration Service, you can now choose between Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) and legacy BIOS boot mode.
Application Migration Service is the primary AWS migration service recommended to lift and shift (rehost) your applications to AWS. It automatically converts your source servers from physical, virtual, or cloud infrastructure to run natively on AWS, minimizing time-intensive, error-prone manual processes.
