Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server, a managed database service that allows access to the operating system and database environment, is now available in the AWS Regions of Asia Pacific (Seoul), South America (São Paulo), and Canada (Central). Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server manages the operations and backups of databases in the cloud, while allowing administrative access to the underlying operating system to help meet the dependent application's needs.
By using Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server, customers can obtain the access to the operating system required for a wider range of applications, and benefit from the agility of a managed database service, with features such as automated backups and point-in-time recovery. By allowing more applications to move to a managed database service, customers can save time on the undifferentiated heavy lifting of database management and focus on higher level tasks.
Get started by reading the setup guide in AWS Documentation, and deploy using the AWS CLI or AWS Management Console today. Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server is generally available in the following regions: US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Stockholm), and South America (São Paulo).
