Today, the Matter PKI Compliance Customer Guide for AWS Private Certificate Authority (AWS Private CA) is avaliable on AWS Artifact. This Guide provides information about how you can use AWS Private CA to help you create and operate Matter-compliant Certificate Authorities (CAs). Matter is a new smart home connectivity standard, governed by the Connectivity Standard Alliance, that allows smart home devices from different vendors to work together. For smart home devices to be Matter-compliant, manufacturers are required to certify these devices and provision them with Device Attestation Certificates (DACs).
Matter has two sets of requirements for the issuance of DACs. First, the certificates provisioned on Matter enabled devices must adhere to the Matter format, standard X.509 certificates with additional, Matter-specific attributes. Second, the CAs issuing the device certificates must be operated in a manner compliant with Matter policies. Customers can already use AWS Private CA to issue certificates that follow the Matter format. AWS Private CA customers can now use the Matter PKI Compliance Customer Guide to help identify operational controls needed to create and manage a CA compliant with Matter policies, saving time and development effort.
The Matter PKI Compliance Customer Guide is now available for download on AWS Artifact. To learn more about AWS Private CA, please see our product detail page.
