AWS Mainframe Modernization is now available with a range of new capabilities for easier management and operation of the service’s fully-managed runtime environments. The capabilities include role-based access, application-level monitoring, and application deployment updates that enable seamless user authorization control, greater application performance visibility, and faster application deployment, respectively, for modernizing mainframe applications.
The role-based access with integrated cross-services identity and security management allows users to consume multiple AWS services without having to provide and manage IAM credentials every time. The application-level monitoring complements the already-available environment-level metrics by adding engine-level metrics, like transaction response time and transactions completed count, for enhanced application observability. Finally, deployed applications can now be incrementally updated without deleting the applications and their resources from the environment to accelerate application changes.
These new AWS Mainframe Modernization capabilities are generally available in the following AWS Regions: US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), US West (N. California, Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Paris), and South America (São Paulo).
